Counseling Program

2017-2018 School Year

¡Bienvenidos Caballeros de Coronado!

I am so excited to begin my eight-year as your school counselor. I base my program on the American School Counseling Association National Standards, which focus on the physical, social, intellectual, emotional and vocational growth of each student. This program is accomplished through curriculum guidance in the classroom, small group, and short-term individual counseling.

Through guidance curriculum I am able to systematically connect with all students from kindergarten through 5th grade. Students learn different skills throughout their years at Coronado Elementary. I primarily utilize Zones of Regulation, Connected and Respected and Why Try Programs. Topics and skills we cover are: empathy training, problem solving, regulation exercises, impulse control, social skills, peer pressure, defense mechanisms, support system, and self-respect. Short-term counseling and support are offered to students who are facing family or life transitions. If a student, parent or guardian wishes more formal and regular therapeutic counseling services, I can make a referral to our community mental health provider or community agency.

I am available Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. I encourage students, parents and staff to visit or call me with any questions or concerns. I am here to support the entire Coronado Community!

Thank you,

Sra. Alicia

If you did not have a chance to complete your Quality of Education Survey, please send in a completed form to our Office.  Your input is reviewed and is invaluable to us.  If you need a form, we also have blank copies in the Office.  We need a survey for each child.

Thank you.

You should have received a folder with information regarding how you can sign up for ParentVue during Parent Teacher Conferences.  If you are experiencing any difficulties in signing up, please stop by our Office and we can help you.

We are asking that you complete this process by April 30th.

If you are new to Coronado for the 2018-19 academic year, please plan to join us on April 23rd to Register your child.

You can call us at any time at 843-8283.
